GEICO Butterworth spot!
Published under Voice Over by D.C. Douglas. No Comments.
I found the Mrs. Butterworth spot I did the voice over for GEICO. http://www.coloribus.com/paedia/reels/2008/3/21/511086/
And her voice over is by the wonderful Edie McClurg!
Just plain hysterical - and the intro/outro voiceover ain’t so shabby either.

RTA Voice Over

Hello my lovely search engines. Today I recorded 5 radio spots for RTA of Cleveland. A fun announcer role that seemed to please the clients. Recorded at a studio in Hollywood via ISDN. A pleasing voice over job.

Without A Trace

Booked a role on CBS’s Without A Trace playing a well-to-do father who is distraught over his daughter’s disappearance. No, this is not a voice over role, per se, just an excuse to write a blog entry and mention voice over and male voiceover talent so the search engines see it… Quite blatant, aren’t I?

GEICO Renews Contract
Published under Voice Over by D.C. Douglas. No Comments.
I’m very excited to report to the search engines that GEICO has hire my voice for 6 new “Celebrity Commercials”. The new ones feature James Lipton, The Pipps, Michael Winslow, Joan Rivers, Peter Frampton and Mrs. Butterworth! Very fun stuff. If The Gods smile upon me, they should run for 6 months! Helping me renovate my new house… That GEICO and Apple stock bought!

How Hiring a Voice Over Artist Works
Published under Voice Over, Talent by D.C. Douglas. No Comments.
For me, once we establish the rate, I email the following:
The way it would work is this:
I would post the completed file online (locked within a player) and also send a PayPal invoice. After you listen to it and all is well, you just pay the invoice. Then I convert the listening page into a download page and it’s yours to download. If there needs to be some redirection, I’m happy to rerecord and repost (longer projects will require a tone approval before proceeding). You only pay when you’re happy. If there are rewrites after the initial recording, there is a small fee per rewritten page.
Turn-around is usually 24 hours or less.
Hope I can be of service!
That pretty much makes it all work smoothly…

Voice Over Rates
Published under Voice Over, Rates by D.C. Douglas. No Comments.
Many prospective clients will email me requests for my fee schedule.
Unfortunately, that’s not possible with the internet side of my business. For union work, it’s pretty clear as SAG (Screen Actors Guild) and AFTRA (American Federation of Film and Television Artists) have negotiated set rates.
But most inquiries from the internet are non-union and therefore, it’s all about what the market will bear (or client and voice over artist, really!)
So, I just ask that a prospective client send me the script and tell me what the usage is going to be. Based on those factors I email a quote and we take it from there…

Welcome! I have to give credit to Andy at FCProducer.com for giving me the idea and getting me started. The hope here is that I find the time to post stories, tips, mistakes and anything else that is enjoyable to read, but also pleases the almighty Google!
So, more to come soon!
