… Not to mention several unnamed characters from three huge games coming in the next six months (but due to big lawyers with legalese disease, I must quarantine the actual names).
Brace yourself. I’m going to admit something to you. I’m a dork. An artsy geek. I don’t follow sports. I can’t fix my car. I love to garden, but do it by instinct. I adore paisley shirts. I sum this up by saying I’m as gay as a straight man can be. My girlfriend doesn’t care for this phrase, but it’s so silly it makes me giggle. That’s how much of a dork I am.
However, in the video game world, I’m an outcast as well. I only know of the games I work on. I can’t sit and play any of them for more than 15 minutes before my brain turns grey and woozy (damn you, Grand Theft Auto!). Don’t know why. My idea of free time is working on flash web design, creating film/video/stage projects that will make no money, or seeing three movies in one night while eating 1300 calories in ice cream. Oh, alright, I also love tournament poker so I can’t be that much of a freak.
The point of this long and frightening preamble is to explain why I never put myself out there for gaming conventions. I simply never knew about them. But after Resident Evil 5, I started getting inquiries for personal appearances. That sounded so strange. ”Personal Appearance” is for Tom Cruise and Gerard Butler, not little ol’ mid-level TV/Film/VO guy me. So I asked my agents and my gamer friends about these conventions. They verbally slapped me upside the head and told me I was crazy not to do them. They cited all my games and anime credits that people would be interested in (cue shameless self-promotion):

When I look at it that way (you know, through my ego’s eyes), hell yeah! D.C. Douglas should “personally appear”! My manager asked that I put up a page on my website to address the inquiries. Yes! Web design in my free time!
Well, a chicken came home to roost.
The first convention I’ll appear at will be the Animation & Gaming Ohio 2010! Jason Taylor (the Con Chair) was very nice and accommodating, and the festival has a cool grassroots feel. Should also be a whirlwind experience as I’ll arrive Friday, March 12th and leave the morning of the 15th.

That' is just a small list of just games. But the RE5 cast didn''t just do game conventions, they got to expos comicons all over the world ( they went to japan at one point too ), there was the major comicon that even celebrities like Jackman, Jolie, Quinto etc. go to . I know the RE5 cast went to comicon 09 and it was HUGE…but no Albert Wesker. I don't know how it works but from what I gather capcom had invited a few and the others had to pay their own way. But the cast was missing you and you're the guy that took up the mantle. So it was a big bummer to Re fans because we already talked or heard from most of the cast and mocap actors BUT NOT YOU!
There is also RE5's gold edition coming out, which is just extra game play/levels/and scenes with Jill, Chris and Josh. I know they fight Wesker in the Spencer estate just before Wesker and Jill take their tumble ( dont know if you did any new voice work for it , or if they'll just add lines they already worked with you on). There is alsp RE5 on the PC that was released, toys figures and what not. So, RE5 is still very much alive and really, you should be apart of the craziness. I've never actually been to these things because of where I am, But I can safely say people really do have a good time,
Yeah, I was really bummed to hear about the Japan thing. It could be they thought my agents would want too much money, as they bargained pretty hard for the recording sessions. Too bad, as I would've told my agents that I'd go to Japan for travel, room and board!!! Either that, or they didn't ask because I was such a prima dona in the recording sessions…
It would fantastic to see you hitting cons over here on the East Coast! A big one like Otakon would definitely be worth your time…and of course, I'd love to be at one of your panels!
I'd love to go, but, alas, there doesn't seem to be a lot of cons calling! Maybe that'll change after ME2
