The title almost sounds French so I must quickly apologize to any Tea Party patriots reading. I meant no disrespect. You guys certainly don’t surrender as easily as they do! A little history joke! (Too bad most Americans only remember them helping us out during our revolution… I think they sent crepes to Valley Forge, not sure.)
Fellow Americans! I am taking a moment out of my wretched liberal existence here in Hollywood to present a gift to the Tea Party. Yes, indeed, I have cancelled tonight’s orgy with Alec Baldwin and Barbra Streisand. I told John Cusack he would have to smoke his Mary Jane and eat his mushrooms alone in Joshua Tree park this weekend. I even ended my Skype session with Rosie O’Donnell in the middle of her using foul language!
I did this, countrymen, so I could bring you a very important video. A patriotic video that does what the media elites won’t do — Thanks the Tea Party for their patriotic work on the debt ceiling negotiations… Because someone has to!
If you are moved as I was, please pass this on to a Tea Party member you know. Then hug them tightly (keeping your pelvic area out of the danger zone).

UPDATE
Loving the response. From press release:
Salon.com’s editor, Joan Walsh, retweeted the video Sunday and then returned a half hour later, writing, “Still laughing at @DC_Douglas Tea Party thank you. Ending Social Security will let seniors share their wisdom with the homeless!”
Online websites such as Daily Kos, Crooks & Liar’s Video Cafe, The Immoral Minority, Veracity Stew, and Political Irony began posting it as part of the larger national narrative that links the Tea Party’s intransigence during the debt ceiling negotiations to the credit downgrade.
Apparently this is not without some merit. In Standard & Poor’s statement, they wrote “[T]he downgrade reflects our view that the effectiveness, stability, and predictability of American policymaking and political institutions have weakened at a time of ongoing fiscal and economic challenges to a degree more than we envisioned…”
It wasn't the socialist/communist/muslim/radical adminstration that inherited a country with a $250 billion deficit that went on a spending borrowing spree that got us a $1.4 trillion deficit in two and a half years but the unelected Tea Party patriots that created this needless financial abyss.How about we work on getting the 51% of americans who don't pay tax to start contributing and stop blaming the wealthy…of which I'm not a member of.
Muslim? Really? Did you start out your post with that in the hopes we would be persuaded by reason and intellect? Interesting move… Not sure it works…
Tax the rich, prosecute tax cheats, impeach Clarence Thomas, recall all the TP frauds, cut defense, and create jobs!
A simple, but effective "to do" list!
This was brilliant. Thank YOU, D.C. Douglas!
This is friggin awesome..thank you for sending the link to me.
Actually, you tweeted me the link..doh!
My pleasure!
this below says it all in short and sweet terms….when you have two back to back former coke prez's running the show this is what you end up with as you see follows below…..so knock it off all those blaming the tea partiers. No tea partier I personally know wants corporations to poison streams or keep up unwinnable wars, or reward banking crooks and their gov' t cronies who allowed the BIG screwing of John and Jane Doe. It always baffles me why liberals have no problems with govt' stealing from them..that's a wierd gene I would say!
Federal Budget 101 to follow in next comment.
Let's put the 2011 federal budget into perspective:
* U.S. income: $2,170,000,000,000 (2 trillion, 170 billion)
* Federal budget: $3,820,000,000,000 (3 trillion, 820 billion)
* New debt: $1,650,000,000,000 (1 trillion, 650 billion)
* National debt: $14,271,000,000,000 (14 trillion, 271 billion)
* Recent budget cut: $38,500,000,000 (38 billion, 500 million, about 1 percent of the budget)
Let's put this in terms of a family—the household budget for the fictitious Jones family.
* Total annual income for the Jones family: $21,700
* Amount of money the Jones family spent: $38,200
* Amount of new debt added to the credit card: $16,500
* Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
* Amount cut from the budget: $385
So in effect last month Congress, or in this example the Jones family, sat down at the kitchen table and agreed to cut $385 from its annual budget. What family would cut $385 of spending in order to solve $16,500 in deficit spending? It is a start, although hardly a solution.
Now after years of this, the Jones family has $142,710 of debt on its credit card (which is the equivalent of the national debt). You would think the Jones family would recognize and address this situation, but it does not. Neither does Congress.
You also think the Jones family would not dick around with their creditor, saying they may not pay their past charges – encouraging the credit card company to pursue legal action — putting the little, snot-nosed Jones kids in jeopardy. That's the point in the vid.
Couldn't have said, it beter myself , or maybe just not quite as nice as you. Loved it.
Hilarious! I'm proud to be a human because of you.
A couple things, Jack. First – I'm "the guy." Second, mentining zombies on this website is a big plus! Lots of RE fans here. Third, excusing your use of "muslim" by saying "they" called TPers "terrorists" is akin to a child saying "they started it FIRST!" It doesn't elevate your initial statement at all. As for the rest of your comment, please read Standard & Poor's statement. Parsing the meaning shouldn't be too difficult when you look at the weeks that preceded it.
"The downgrade reflects our opinion that the fiscal consolidation plan that Congress and the Administration recently agreed to falls short of what, in our view, would be necessary to stabilize the government's medium-term debt dynamics."
More broadly, the downgrade reflects our view that the effectiveness, stability, and predictability of American policymaking and political institutions have weakened at a time of ongoing fiscal and economic challenges to a degree more than we envisioned when we assigned a negative outlook to the rating on April 18, 2011."
Where does it say "It's the Tea Party's fault" in that? It says the plan congress agreed to isn't good enough. Whose job is it to have a plan D.C.? You'd think the President maybe? Neither he nor any democrat put forth a plan. What we got was another "Spend Today Save Tomorrow" plan. Promising that a future congress will cut spending will not cut it anymore. We deserve to be downgraded. Ron Paul 2012!
You seem to forget that a grand deal had been struck and that the tea party caucus sat on Boehner until he yelled uncle. Furthermore, you're right, it doesn't say "tea party caucus" or "John Boehner" — nor does it say "Barack Obama" or "Ronald Reagan." Recount the major events in congress from April 2011 to the downgrade.
And exclaiming Ron Paul 2012 at the end of a post is as effective as saying God bless you after a sneeze. There are no evil spirits trying to sneak back into your body and an imaginary man in the sky is not going to protect you if there are.
They sat on Boehner until he yelled uncle so he would include a vote on a balanced budget amendment. What the are you talking about" man in the sky?" Projecting your absurd liberal assumptions that everyone who disagrees with a crack head fiscal ideology is also a religious nut?
With people like you effing up the economy those bible thumping survivalist nuts are looking less crazy every day. Nice Job!
"people like you" — your terminology is adorable. As for God, you missed the allusion. And the rest of your points are undermined by the box you placed around this thread. Just saying.
